Making Links is one of Australia's leading forums on information and communications technology for workers in the not for profit sector.
This year the conference will address the twin challenges of the global economic crisis and environmental sustainability. The theme is Sustaining Communities in Tough Times.
The conference opens with a skills building workshop and film and digital arts festival on Monday 16 November. The main conference takes place 17 - 18 November.

16 November - Workshop We have a few ideas for our full-day workshop topic this year but would also like to hear from you. The ideas on the table at the moment are:
- Greening your organisation (tools and strategies to reduce your environmental footprint) Making your website more user-friendly (an interactive day that would address accessibility, usability, navigation and search engine optimisation)An exploratory tour of free and cheap tools to enhance your organisation's operations

16 November - Film and digital arts festival
On Monday evening enjoy a drink & a snack and a selection of community-produced short films and digital stories Melbourne’s famed Loop Bar from 7.00 – 9.00 pm.
17 November - Conference Dinner
Share a traditional Melbourne counter tea with your fellow delegates on Tuesday night at The Corkman Irish Pub, just a few minutes walk from the conference venue. Main course plus drinks. Vegetarians will be well catered for.
Would you like to present at Making Links?
Making Links is a peer-based conference. We are seeking presentations that address the conference theme of Sustaining Communities in Tough Times.
We invite you to present a paper on your learning and experiences with ICT, your projects, case studies or research; lead a practical workshop that introduces useful tools and concepts; or propose a short film or digital story for screening.
The structure of the conference will be based on:
- Case studies
- Practical workshops
- Panel discussions
- Networking opportunities
- Film festival
- Social and satellite events
Who should attend?
The conference attracts delegates and presenters from many fields including health, environment, education, charities, business, government, philanthropy, human services and non-profits working with marginalised groups (e.g. e.g. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, culturally and linguistically diverse, youth at risk, unemployed, rural and remote, disability).
