Presenters should plan for a talk of a maximum of 30 minutes for oral papers (in a 40 minute timeslot) and a session of 90 minutes for practical workshops, which should include time for questions, interaction, workshop activities etc. You should also be prepared to make your presentation twice if there is sufficient interest. Any materials such as electronic presentations must be brought with you or provided to the organisers before the conference.
All rooms will have a PC with CD, USB and DVD drives, as well as a data projector and Internet. Microsoft Office will be installed on all PCs.
Please advise if you will require a PC lab for your presentation or if numbers should be limited for workshop presentations.
Presenters of practical workshops should indicate the level of knowledge required by participants (beginners / intermediate / advanced).
If you are confirmed as a presenter, you may be asked to chair other sessions. Guidelines will be provided on what is required, and we will try to match you with a session you would be attending anyway.
Submissions from speakers should generally fit with the conference themes of Community, Responsibility and Sustainability and include real project implementation with real project outcomes. Evidence of experience in providing training is required for proposals for practical workshops, and the training topics should be relevant to conference delegates (our target audience is outlined in Conference Aims.
Registrations will open mid-May. Discounts or fee waivers may apply for presenters. Please do not register until your abstract has been accepted. This should be confirmed by 8 August.
Unfortunately we are not in the position at this point to be able to offer airfares and accommodation to rural and interstate presenters. However we are currently seeking sponsorship to assist with the costs of a small number of presenters. Please contact makinglinks@afao.org.au if your presentation is entirely conditional on having all of your costs met.
